Sierra Nevada Ski village is also known as Sol y Nieve (Sun and Snow in Spanish) and is the most southerly ski resort in Europe. The resort offers fabulous skiing and a superb atmosphere! The village is just 20 minutes from Medina Elvira and just two hours from the sunny Costa del Sol, so it is quite possible to ski in the morning and sip a cocktail on the beach in the afternoon!
There are all the amenities and services that you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. There are supermarkets, sports & fashion boutiques, photo-developing services, banks with cash machines, ski rental, taxi services, car rental etc. If you want to unwind at night, then visit one of the resort’s many bars, nightclubs or discotheques for a lively après ski!
The ski pistes are wide open and the runs are long and gentle which lend themselves to the intermediate skier. For the more advance rider there is ample off-piste skiing. You will find 20 ski lifts leading to a choice of over 90 runs covering 91km which include 16 green, 35 blue 43 red and 9 blacks. The Veleta Peak is the highest point at 3,398 metres (11,148 feet) above sea level. Weather permitting the Ski lifts are open from 09.00hrs. to 16.30hrs daily and Friday and Saturday evenings for floodlit night time skiing. Andalucía has a very high proportion of sunny days even in the winter and usually it is possible to ski with beautiful blue skies and warm temperatures. |
